The original version of Amagerbanken’s logo is much older than the Bank. It dates back to the year 1521, when the Danish King, Christian II, invited a number of Dutch families to Denmark. They were allowed to settle on Amager.

Their paramount duty was to provide the Court and the citizens of Copenhagen with fresh fruit and vegetables.

The Dutch immigrants had extensive privileges and a certain degree of autonomy, but were otherwise governed by the County of Copenhagen. Dispatches from the Dutch community to the capital or the Court were provided with an image of the Dutch community’s coat of arms depicting a Dutch farmer. When the community’s autonomy was abolished 300 years later in 1821, the use of their coat of arms was discontinued.

Since 1906 Amagerbanken has used the image as the Bank’s logo emphasizing our attachment to the island of Amager.
